Fall 2009 Merit Scholarship

The Phi Sigma Rho Foundation would like to announce that the Fall 2009 Merit Scholarship is awarded to Nicole Varnerin of the Case Western Reserve University-Omicron Chapter. Nicole is currently a sophomore majoring in Biomedical Engineering. She was initiated into the Omicron Chapter as a member of the Mu Pledge Class in the Spring of 2009. In her first semester as an active Phi Rho Nicole served as the membership educator for her chapter. She is now serving as the Panhellenic delegate for the Omicron Chapter. In addition to her involvement in ΦΣΡ, Nicole is also active at Case in the Newman Catholic Student Association. Nicole is also involved in improving her community in Cleveland. Her particular focus is helping the less fortunate through activities such as serving at homeless shelters and serving on the planning committee for the Homeless Stand-down, an event focusing on the reconnection, respite and renewal of the homeless community in Cleveland.

The Foundation would like to thank all of the applicants for this scholarship. What an extraordinary group of women they are! Also, thank you to all of the alumnae who wrote a letter of recommendation for the applicants.

In addition to congratulating Nicole on a job well done, the Foundation is proud to announce the availability of several $500 scholarships to be awarded in July 2010. Both leadership and merit based scholarship applications are available on the Foundation Scholarship webpage. All applications must be postmarked by May 15, 2010. If you have any questions, please contact the Foundation Scholarship Chair, Tammy Lowe at FoundationScholarshipChair@PhiSigmaRho.org.
