Foundation Board of Directors


The Board of Directors is the governing body of the Foundation and oversees all affairs of the Foundation.

Positions on the Foundation's Board of Directors are four-year terms. Elections for the directorial positions are staggered such that two new directors are elected every two years. The National Council president, or her delegate, is an ex-officio member of the board.

The Third Board of Directors (July 2007- July 2009) are:


The President: Elana Chapman, University of Dayton – Gamma
Position Description: The President supervises and controls all the business and affairs of the Foundation. She presides at all meetings of the Board of Directors. She leads the Foundation in strategic planning and works with the ex-officio to conduct joint strategic planning for the Sorority and the Foundation. She develops on-boarding and transitioning processes for the Foundation Board of Directors and Chairs. She provides monthly Foundation reports to the Sorority and to the Foundation’s volunteers.

The Vice President of Development: Sarah Fisk, University of Flordia - Tau
Position Description: The VP of Development works with the Treasurer to set development goals based on Foundation expenses and Philanthropic goals. She oversees annual and special campaigns for chapters, parents, alumnae and corporate giving. She is responsible for the completion documentation related to the campaigns. She may also coordinate Phone Drives and Donor Appreciation mechanisms.


The Vice President of Programs: Lara Day, Purdue University - Alpha
Position Description: The VP of Programs facilitates programming for professional, educational, philanthropic, and leadership development opportunities for members and friends of Phi Sigma Rho. She works with VP of Publicity to develop appropriate events, publications and communications to expand Foundation awareness for actives, alumnae, and national volunteers. She oversees the Grant Program and the Scholarship Program and works with the Sorority’s National VP of Programming and LEAP Directors as needed.

The Vice President of Publicity: Julie Hayden, University of Pittsburgh - Zeta
Position Description: The VP of Publicity is responsible for development of all Foundation external publications including: the Foundation Annual Report, the Foundation website, Foundation brochures, newsletters and news releases as well as Foundation contributions to Sorority publications such as the Bulletin, National Newsletter, letters to new alumnae, Chapter Handbook, RFD Handbook, and Member manual. She works with the VP of Development to create appropriate publications and communications for development campaigns. She works with the VP of Programs to develop appropriate events, publications and communications to expand Foundation awareness for actives, alumnae, and national volunteers.

The Treasurer: Heather Lazar, Ohio State University – Beta
Position Description: The Treasurer has custody and is responsible for all funds and securities of the Foundation. She provides to the Board of Directors, monthly reports of the financial condition of the Foundation and, after the close of the fiscal year, prepares and submits to an annual financial report. She properly files and keeps the books, reports, statements, certificates, and all other documents and records required by law. She perform all duties incident to the office of Treasurer such as preparing and monitoring the budget, managing the Foundation financial accounts, and overseeing hard copy distribution of tax receipts of donations to the Foundation.

The Secretary: Vacant
Position Description: The Secretary keeps the minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors. She is the custodian of the official records of the Foundation. She performs all duties incident to the office of Secretary and such as updating the calendar, maintaining revision control of polices and procedures of the Foundation as well as Foundation manuals.

The Ex-Officio: Sara DaSilva, University of Pittsburgh - Zeta
Position Description: The Ex-Officio is the Sorority’s National Council President. She serves as the primary link between the Foundation’s Board of Directors and the Sorority’s National Council. She reports the Sorority’s National Council information to the Foundation as appropriate and reports Foundation information to the National Council as appropriate. She assist the Foundation in understanding the National Council structure as well as in recognizing potential areas of joint collaboration. She works with the Foundation President to perform joint strategic planning for the Sorority and the Foundation.


Chairs & Committees


In addition to the Board of Directors there are additional chairs and committees that help run the Foundation. All chair positions are filled via appointment by the board and are one-year renewable positions.


Advisors: Wanda Gibson
Position Description: Advise the Board of Directors. Past Foundation Board of Directors and Sorority National Council members may hold this position.

Legal Research Chair: Vacant
Position Description: Provide Legal research to the Board of Directors. Bring current Fraternal law and non-profit law changes to the attention of the Board of Directors.

Assistant Secretary: Vacant
Position Description: Work with the Secretary to keep the official records of the Foundation. May be involved in the revision control of documents and forms as well as the updating and maintaining of policies and procedures of the Foundation and Foundation manuals.


Assistant Treasurer Duties: Christine Jackson
Position Description: Work with the Treasurer to perform financial responsibilities for the Foundation. She maintains the Foundation P.O. Box and provides weekly updates of correspondence in the Foundation P.O. Box. She deposits checks to the bank account, provides monthly reports of the credits and debits to the bank account and performs hard copy distribution of tax receipts of donations to the Foundation.

Annual Campaign Chair: Vacant
Position Description: Work with the VP of Development to manage an annual development campaign that involves actives, candidates, alumnae, chapters, colonies or other associations of the sorority. She manages any associated committees and provides updates to the National Database Manager, as they are available. She works with the Treasurer to handle the collection of funds, i.e. bank transfers and credit card donations.

 
Special Campaign Chair: Vacant
Position Description: Work with the VP of Development to manage development campaigns to supplement the annual development campaign. She manages any associated committees and provides updates to the National Database Manager, as they are available. She works with the Treasurer to handle the collection of funds, i.e. bank transfers and credit card donations.

Corporate Donations Chair: Vacant
Position Description: Work with the VP of Development to prepare and submit grant proposals to corporations for support. She helps prepare requests to corporations for fulfillment of Matching Grants. She confirms that the Foundation is listed in publications for non-profits.

Member Research Chair: Vacant
Position Description: Work with the VP of Development and the National Database Manager to collect statistical information on Phi Sigma Rho schools – enrollment and % of women. She helps determine feasibility of development campaigns and manage risk in each endeavor. She gathers information on the giving trends of individual sisters, Chapters and Alumnae Associations to determine fundraising focus. And she works to identifying groups of potential donors.

Donor Appreciation Chair: Vacant
Position Description: Work with the VP Development to oversee all donor appreciation activities including: thank you calls and letters, special events, communications on how their money was spent, tax mailings etc. She may maintain Donor Profiles and oversee items such as birthday, holiday, and donation anniversary cards.


Membership Services Chair: Vacant
Position Description: Work with the VP of Programs help meet the Philanthropic, Leadership, Professional, and Educational needs of the active and alumnae members. She actively seeks out ideas of how the Sorority and Foundation can provide services to actives and alumnae members.


Annual Report Chair: Vacant
Position Description: Perform duties assigned by the VP of Publicity to complete the design and distribution of the of Foundation’s Annual Report.

Publications Chair: Vacant
Position Description: Perform duties assigned by the VP of Publicity such as creating brochures and materials for development campaigns as well as publications like the Sorority’s National Newsletter, and Bulletins.

Webmaster: Elishka Jackson
Position Description: Maintain the Foundation website including an online gift form.
