History
The Phi Sigma Rho Foundation, founded in 2005, is one of the newest Greek foundations
for women. The Foundation exists to fund programs that provide professional, educational,
philanthropic, and leadership development opportunities for the members and friends of Phi Sigma
Rho Sorority.
Until the formation of the Foundation, the financial burden of the Phi Sigma Rho
sorority was borne largely by the active sorority members. As the Sorority continued to grow, it was
noted that our active and alumnae members need more support. In order to support the growing
needs of the Sorority, Phi Sigma Rho sisters initiated the set up of a foundation. Below is a timeline of
events leading to the establishment of the Phi Sigma Rho Foundation.
| June 7, 2005 |
The Phi Sigma Rho Foundation recieved notification of tax-exempt 501(c)(3) according to the Internal Revenue Code. |
| March 14, 2005 |
The election of the initial Foundation board of directors. |
| March 1, 2005 |
The Phi Sigma Rho Foundation recieved Articles of Incorporation. |
| 2003 |
The Foundation Committee was established to continue researching and begin initial fundraising. |
| 2000-2002 |
The 7th National Council of the Phi Sigma Rho sorority began initial research to set up a foundation. |
