History

The Phi Sigma Rho Foundation, founded in 2005, is one of the newest Greek foundations for women. The Foundation exists to fund programs that provide professional, educational, philanthropic, and leadership development opportunities for the members and friends of Phi Sigma Rho Sorority.

Until the formation of the Foundation, the financial burden of the Phi Sigma Rho sorority was borne largely by the active sorority members. As the Sorority continued to grow, it was noted that our active and alumnae members need more support. In order to support the growing needs of the Sorority, Phi Sigma Rho sisters initiated the set up of a foundation. Below is a timeline of events leading to the establishment of the Phi Sigma Rho Foundation.

2000-2002 The 7th National Council of the Phi Sigma Rho sorority began initial research to set up a foundation.
2003 The Foundation Committee was established to continue researching and begin initial fundraising.
March 1, 2005 The Phi Sigma Rho Foundation recieved Articles of Incorporation.
March 14, 2005 The election of the initial Foundation board of directors.
June 7, 2005 The Phi Sigma Rho Foundation recieved notification of tax-exempt 501(c)(3) according to the Internal Revenue Code.
