Phi Sigma Rho chapters each year continue to
developed and participate in outstanding campus and community
service projects and programs. Each active chapter is to perform
at least one public service project of its own choosing each
academic year, but many chapters go beyond this to volunteer
many hours to various good causes.
The
Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
was adopted as an approved Sorority-wide service project of Phi
Sigma Rho in 1998. Both Phi Sigma Rho and the Girl Scouts are
strongly concerned with education, motivation and youth. The
support of cancer research programs, such as the
American Cancer Society,
was also identified in 1998 as the suggested Sorority-wide
beneficiary of Phi Sigma Rho monetary contributions and efforts.
These projects were conceived in order to enhance, not replace,
each chapter’s local service project efforts. It is up to each
chapter to determine whether its endeavors will be for the
benefit of local projects or the Girls Scouts and cancer
research, or both.
