Each year, the Greek community at Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) comes together for Greek Sing, a spirited competition that invites chapters from the Panhellenic Council (PHC) and Interfraternity Council (IFC) to showcase their creativity, teamwork, and talent on stage. This year, the Lambda Chapter of Phi Sigma Rho earned an impressive third-place finish in partnership with Delta Gamma and Phi Delta Theta, bringing energy and enthusiasm to a performance that reflected weeks of dedication and collaboration.
For the sisters of the Lambda Chapter, Greek Sing is more than just a competition; it is an opportunity to build meaningful connections within the broader Greek community while celebrating their shared sisterhood.
“Greek Sing is one of our chapter’s favorite ways to get involved with the larger Greek community at Penn State!” said Valerie Weigner, Chapter President. “We were partnered with two other chapters from the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils this year, which allowed our sisters to form deeper relationships with the community. In the weeks leading up to the competition, we had a group of sisters volunteer to take time out of the busy schedules for weekly rehearsals. Our two Chairs collaborated with the other leaders to pick our theme, Glee, choreograph the dance, and conduct rehearsals. It was super fun to watch the final performance on stage and see all their hard work come to fruition! We are all so proud of the third place win; it shows off our chapter’s dedication and gives us some fun bragging rights on campus! As an associate Panhellenic Chapter at Penn State, we care deeply about our Panhellenic involvement and relations with the other Greek councils on campus. We look forward to Greek Sing 2026 and hope to keep up our success!”
Preparation for Greek Sing required commitment, leadership, and creativity. Under the guidance of Greek Sing Chairs Abby Lewis and Eliana Garza, members dedicated time each week to rehearsals, working alongside partner organizations to bring their shared vision to life.
“I loved the opportunity to lead our chapter as a Greek Sing chair!” said Abby Lewis and Eliana Garza. “It was so fun to see everyone outside of our usual academic classes or other Phi Rho activities to get together for dance practices each week. It was also great to work with other Greek Orgs on campus and get to know them on a closer level through our practices and also through friendly competition with the other teams. We went with a Glee theme this year, which was super fun for everyone. A lot of us were familiar with the music and characters, which helped us really commit to the final performance!”
Through their hard work and collaboration, the Lambda Chapter delivered a standout performance that earned them third place and showcased their dedication to involvement and excellence. Congratulations to the Lambda Chapter on an outstanding Greek Sing!
